PCRS strives for all the “bells and whistles” families can expect at an academically excellent school, while keeping Christ as the focus of our faith community. We are pleased to announce that as of September 1, 2008, the name of Portsmouth Catholic Elementary School has been changed to Portsmouth Catholic Regional School (PCRS). This name change reflects two important facts about PCRS. The first is that our mission to educate and spread the Gospel of Jesus encompasses middle-school age students as PCRS enrolls students in grades Pre-K through eight. In addition, the name change reflects the fact that, as a regional school, PCRS is supported by six parishes in our area: Church of St. Therese, St. Paul’s, Resurrection, Holy Angels, St Mary’s in Bowers Hill, and St. Mary’s in Suffolk. We thank all of the pastors and parishioners in these parishes for the support you give the school, both financially and in your participation in our school activities, such as our annual auction and attending our basketball games.  We are happy that the new name Portsmouth Catholic Regional School reflects that relationship. We are the only Catholic school spreading our strong faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the cities of Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Suffolk. Thank you for all you do to help us continue our mission.
