OUTREACH OPPORTUNITYPortsmouth Catholic Regional School invites the parish community of St. Paul's to join their efforts in helping Habitat For Humanity and reaching out to those in need of safe, energy efficient, and decent shelter. PCRS has several of the actual 2 X 4's that will be used in the construction of the next Habitat home in our area for Ke'Anna Turnquist and her young daughter. You are invited to come by the school on 2301 Oregon Avenue in Portsmouth, make a donation, and sign the board with your names, prayers and well wishes. What an opportunity to be a part of not only building this special home but the future of the Turnquist family as well. PCRS began this annual Lenten
outreach as a tribute to the Daughters of Charity, especially to Sr. Agatha Teipe, who once served as a librarian at PCRS for 20 years and on the HFH Board. Last year PCRS donated $1700 to HFH. With your prayers, sacrifices and donations, PCRS hopes to exceed last year's token of Lenten love. Please call the school at 488-6744 for additional information. --posted 4-12-09

Portsmouth Catholic Elementary will again fly the Virginia Pilot banner for being voted the “Best Private School in Portsmouth.” We thank you for voicing your support for the excellent faith-based education provided by the faculty and staff at PCES in the tradition of Catholic education. Look for the banner flying proudly at PCES!

If you are interested in seeking an education for your child(ren) that is focused on the whole child, please call the school office at 488-6744 for a tour.

We are pleased to announce that as of September 1, 2008, the name of Portsmouth Catholic Elementary School has been changed to Portsmouth Catholic Regional School (PCRS). This name change reflects two important facts about PCRS. The first is that our mission to educate and spread the Gospel of Jesus encompasses middle-school age students as PCRS enrolls students in grades Pre-K through eight. In addition, the name change reflects the fact that, as a regional school, PCRS is supported by six parishes in our area: Church of St. Therese, St. Paul’s, Resurrection, Holy Angels, St Mary’s in Bowers Hill, and St. Mary’s in Suffolk. We thank all of the pastors and parishioners in these parishes for the support you give the school, both financially and in your participation in our school activities, such as our annual auction and attending our basketball games.  We are happy that the new name Portsmouth Catholic Regional School reflects that relationship. We are the only Catholic school spreading our strong faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the cities of Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Suffolk. Thank you for all you do to help us continue our mission.
